Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship program initiated by the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), Government of India. Launched in 2014 and restructured in 2018, the mission aims to connect institutions of higher education with rural India to address the development challenges of rural areas through appropriate technologies and knowledge transfer.

Objectives:
– To involve faculty and students of higher education institutions in understanding rural realities.
– To develop solutions for sustainable development in villages using science and technology.
– To promote a spirit of volunteerism and community service in academic institutions.

Key Features:
– Each participating institution adopts 5 villages for development.
– Emphasis on improving sanitation, energy sources, livelihoods, education, and health.
– Collaboration between academia, local government, and rural communities.
